The UN Ocean Conference is the most important international conference on marine conservation. Germany will be focussing on important multilateral processes for marine protection at the conference. For the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN), this includes in particular the ongoing negotiations for an international agreement against plastic waste, but also the protection of the deep sea against the risks of possible deep-sea mining.
