Under the theme “Soil biodiversity at the interface of research, monitoring and governance: understanding functions, advancing methods, connecting perspectives”, the German Soil Science Society, the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the National Monitoring Centre for Biodiversity and the Soil Monitoring Centre invites participants to discuss current findings, methodological developments, and key challenges relating to soil biodiversity.

The conference addresses current questions concerning the importance, recording and assessment of soil biodiversity. It focuses on the role of soil biota in soil and ecosystem functions, new molecular methods for biodiversity assessment, and robust ecosystem monitoring. The event covers both soil fauna and soil microbiome, bringing together different scientific perspectives with questions of monitoring and the integration of soil ecological knowledge into biodiversity conservation and climate action.
The programme will include expert presentations, discussions and exchange formats. The presentations are planned to be held in English; discussions and exchange formats will take place in both German and English.
