Vortragsreihe des Monitoringzentrums - Biodiversity Monitoring Programs in Finland
Vortragende: PhD Petteri Vihervaara (Finnish Environment Institute (Syke))
Finland is one of the countries that have a long history in collecting biodiversity observations. However, many of the monitoring schemes were launched for various purposes without coordination or thinking about synergies with other parallel monitoring schemes, nor harmonized data management design. This situation has been significantly improved during the past years, for instance, via Finnish Ecosystem Observatory project, and in close collaboration with European Biodiversity Partnership Biodiversa+ (2021-2028). The Finnish Nature Information Hubompiles an overview of the monitoring schemes in Finland, including metadata search for various data sets, as well as other information on monitoring methods and use of data for various purposes.
